Modern scientific studies have demonstrated in multiple lab controlled experiments that ingredients such as hydroxyapatite, does in fact help to remineralize the tooth enamel and dentin, and therefore strengthen the teeth and help prevent decay.
The modern trend of moving away from unnecessary and toxic ingredients, in favor of natural and organic alternatives, makes tooth powder an obvious choice for the health minded consumer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does tooth powder differ from toothpaste?
Tooth powder is 100% active ingredients, each of which serve a purpose for your oral health. Toothpaste contains many ingredients, such as foaming agents, artificial colors and sweeteners which produce a familiar tooth-brushing experience, but offer no benefit to your oral health, and are considered toxic in many ways. For this reason, there are no foaming agents in tooth powders. For this reason, your brushing experience will be more watery than you may be used to. After a few weeks, you will no longer perceive this as abnormal, and you will begin to appreciate the clean, refreshing experience that comes from clean ingredients.
Is tooth powder safe for children?
Yes. Children can be sensitive to peppermint oil, however, so we intentionally formulated an organic sweet orange and vanilla bean version of our tooth powder specifically designed with children in mind. However, our mint version is also safe for children if they are over 2 years old and can spit after brushing.
How do I introduce tooth powder to my young child?
In the beginning, our tooth powder can be used in conjunction with a small amount of your child’s toothpaste in order to help them adjust to using powder instead of paste, or to help reset their tastebuds after prolonged use of artificial sweeteners. This will ease the transition to an exclusive tooth powder regimen. Most people will adjust quickly.
How long does one jar of tooth powder last?
One jar should typically last one individual about eight weeks, brushing twice daily.
Can tooth powder be swallowed?
All of our ingredients are safe, food grade, supplements. There is no danger swallowing the product, but that is not the intended use. However, after brushing, it is not necessary to rinse your mouth out with water. This will prolong the effects of the beneficial ingredients on your teeth.
Can the whole family share one jar of tooth powder?
In our own family, we have one jar for adults and one jar for kids. We use a small spoon to ladle a pea-sized amount into our palm and scoop it from there onto our brush. If you prefer, you can also moisten your brush, tap off the excess water, and dip it into the jar. The ingredients are naturally anti-microbial, so there is little reason to fear cross-contamination between family members. It is really up to your personal preference. Either way, a little tooth powder goes a long way so it’s fine to share one jar among several family members.
Does your tooth powder foam up?
No. Getting used to the tooth powder requires an adjustment period. However, once you make the switch, we believe you will never go back to toothpaste.
